Stephanie Carney Manske earned her bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College, and her Master of Arts degree in Applied Physiology from Columbia University. She started her career at St. Vincent Medical Center, where she gained clinical expertise through multiple rotations including adult and pediatric out-patients, rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary, neurology, and wound care. Stephanie’s interest in ergonomics lead to the development of a back injury prevention program for St. Vincent employees as part of a wellness program.
While taking time to raise her two children, Stephanie found many opportunities to take her knowledge of health and wellness directly to the community she lives in, developing and directing a Brooklyn elementary school running program that serves 100+ students throughout the school year. As a coach-mentor for Run4Fun, a non-for-profit sports-based youth development running program, she engages youth of all ages in small groups to teach life skills through running. She is also currently a USA Track & Field member.
Stephanie started running in Upstate New York when she was 10 years old, eventually landing her a spot on Ithaca’s nationally ranked women’s cross country team. She excelled in distance events in both indoor and outdoor track and field. Stephanie has run in the NYC Marathon three times, qualifying for the Boston Marathon twice. Physical therapy has always had a major role in each phase of her training program. Her focus now is to keep the easy days easy for the long run!
Stephanie integrates her belief that “movement is medicine” into patient care. She creates meaningful therapeutic exercise programs with an emphasis on patient education. She considers the whole person with every approach she takes. Stephanie is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Academy of Sport Physical Therapy, Academy of Orthopedics, and Academy of Pelvic Health.
In her free time Stephanie loves traveling with family, exploring new restaurants with friends, hiking mountain trails and even around NYC!
