Puja Gaikwad, PT, DPT
Puja completed her Bachelor of Physical Therapy in Mumbai, India, and she is currently pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy at Touro University. With a five-year practice background in Mumbai, she has gained extensive experience working with diverse patient populations, specializing in orthopedic and sports conditions. These professional experiences have deepened my understanding of functional movements and the overall rehabilitation process. Puja believes in evidence-based practice, and takes a holistic approach to tailor treatment plans for patients to help them achieve their functional goals.
During her time in India, she served as a team physical therapist for cricket and football associations. Puja also collaborated with running groups; this exposure reinforced her beliefs in the importance of prevention strategies. Puja’s clinical skills incorporate sports-related injuries, prevention strategies, orthopedic post-operative rehabilitation, postural dysfunctions, and running injuries. Establishing a strong patient-therapist relationship is her priority, as it facilitates effective collaboration to achieve patients’ goals.
A year ago, Puja moved to NYC, and is eager to explore the city and its offerings. Puja enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, running, traveling, playing badminton, and exploring diverse cuisines. Staying active with practices like mat Pilates, running, and functional training is essential to her. Having grown up in the lively city of Mumbai, she is excited to see what experiences NYC has in store for her.
