Nermin graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science before pursuing her Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Hofstra University. Her educational background has provided a strong foundation in understanding the complexities of human movement and rehabilitation, equipping me with the skills necessary to excel in her field. The combination of her degrees has allowed her to approach therapeutic challenges with a well-rounded perspective, enhancing her ability to support and guide individuals through their therapeutic journeys.

Since graduating, Nermin has dedicated her career to working with the pediatric early intervention population. Her experience has primarily involved treating children diagnosed with autism, Down syndrome, and various communication and psychological barriers. In her role, she focus on establishing individualized goals tailored to each child’s unique needs, addressing challenges such as tactile, proprioceptive, and vestibular issues. She designs treatment sessions that target in-hand manipulation, crossing midline, bilateral upper extremity usage, fine and gross motor control, as well as emotional regulation and overcoming feeding hypersensitivity. Witnessing these young individuals achieve their milestones and overcome obstacles, whether it’s mastering the use of feeding utensils or manipulating building blocks, has been incredibly rewarding. The progress and success of my young clients continue to be a source of immense pride and joy.

In addition to her professional pursuits, she has several interests that keep her inspired and engaged outside of work. She is keen on advancing my expertise further by obtaining certifications in Certified Hand Therapy (CHT) and lymphedema management. On a personal level, she considers myself an adventurer at heart. She thrives on traveling and immersing myself in new experiences. Whether it’s hiking, exploring new landscapes on a yacht, canoeing, kayaking, or parasailing, Nermin finds joy in discovering the world’s wonders. Exploring different countries and cultures adds a rich layer to her life, and she cherishes these experiences deeply. Additionally, she has a passion for reading, finding solace and excitement in the pages of a good book. These personal interests complement her professional life, enriching my perspective and fueling my enthusiasm for both her career and personal growth.
