Louisa Powers received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Touro College and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science from the University of Rhode Island. Before attending graduate school, Louisa worked with MediFit Corporate Services who went in for Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. There she performed health and fitness assessments, determined exercise prescriptions and designed workout programs for a diverse population including high-risk clientele.
Louisa has treated patients in multiple orthopedic settings around NYC. It is her goal to create a positive healing experience for patients by taking time to understand each patient as an individual. She uses her knowledge of exercise to modify and progress patients, tailored to their unique needs to reach their optimal potential.
Louisa has always been active. She was a competitive swimmer for almost 10 years, including coaching in her last year of high school. Upon entering college she received certification to teach group fitness classes through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, AFFA, and Spin through Mad-Dog Athletics. Group fitness quickly became a hobby of passion. In her last year of college, Louisa supervised the group exercise department; training new instructors, managing class schedules and some marketing as well. Louisa continues teaching in multiple gyms in RI, CT and NY. Her favorite classes include HIIT (high intensity interval training), strength training, and Spin. She now teaches group classes at Crunch fitness locations around NYC.
