Joe Costello, PT, DPT, SCS
Joe Costello is Spear’s Regional Vice President of Operations. He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. Joe received his undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Business Administration from Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh, NY. While at MSMC, Joe was a member of the basketball team and helped start the school’s lacrosse program. He was named captain of the Blue Knights’ inaugural season.
Joe started with SPEAR at the 44th Street location as a staff therapist. He was first exposed to physical therapy when he suffered from chronic shoulder injuries in high school sports. He developed a passion for PT as he worked to return to playing. His clinical experience includes orthopedic and sports rehab, extensive spine training from a challenging clinic in South Carolina, cardiac rehabilitation, oncology, and private care. Joe utilizes an individualized approach to tailor each treatment specifically for each patient with a focus on manual therapy. Joe has also taken courses in fascial movement taping and advances for the shoulder and knee to aid his patients’ recovery. In 2016, Joe was awarded certification as a Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist from the American Physical Therapy Association.
In his free time, Joe enjoys playing pickup basketball, attending sporting events, traveling, hanging with friends and family, and visiting the always beautiful Seneca Lake.
