Eldon is a Physical Therapy Orthopedic Resident at Columbia University working at our Chelsea location. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Central Michigan University, where he also earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science-Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology. Eldon found his passion for physical therapy during college while working with individuals with deficits like what his cousin experienced when diagnosed with brain cancer. He decided then that he would devote his life to helping those get back to what they love doing.
Eldon began his career as a strength and conditioning coach prior to entering Physical Therapy School. He worked with individuals playing football, wrestling, swimming, basketball, hockey, and volleyball, focusing mainly on building strength, endurance, agility, sport-specific tasks, and injury prevention. Eldon continued to treat individuals while in Physical Therapy school and became a coach in weightlifting to help teach proper form and building strength for those interested in Olympic Weightlifting. While in Physical Therapy school, Eldon also worked as a graduate assistant in a Neuroscience lab studying polyunsaturated fat consumption in relation to neuroinflammation. He also gained experience treating patients in outpatient orthopedics, outpatient neurological setting, and acute care in the burn unit. Eldon has treated patients diagnosed with various musculoskeletal injuries in addition to Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, dementia, cancer, amputees, burns, post-surgical orthopedic/cardiac cases.
Eldon is interested in helping individuals rehabilitate and create resilient bodies that possess the ability to withstand the rigors of daily life and return to those activities which give their lives meaning and purpose. He enjoys coming to a job where he can meet new people, build relationships, and help his patients return to a high quality of life. Eldon’s professional interests include orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, and neurological rehabilitation. He enjoys spending his off time traveling, fitness, playing various sports, camping, hiking, and enjoying the outdoors.
