Sean obtained both his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Misericordia University in Northeastern Pennsylvania. During his studies, Sean participated in various leadership positions, earning him recognition from his peers and the faculty. While completing his Doctorate degree, Sean engaged in international service in Jamaica, and studied abroad in Costa Rica. Sean’s doctoral research focused on the utilization of Yoga for the management of acute and chronic low back pain.
Sean’s passion for physical therapy began with a positive experience visiting a SPEAR Physical Therapy clinic as a teenager. Sean was inspired by the vibrant atmosphere and positive experience, and how well it meshed with his own personality and can-do attitude. Sean furthered his passion by completing a competitive Physical Therapy Residency, focusing on the treatment of neurological conditions including stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, concussions, and vestibular disorders.
Sean has a particular interest in motor learning and teaching people of all abilities and aptitudes to acquire new skills. Sean combined his love of teaching and learning as a lab Instructor at two universities, providing clinical education to multiple doctoral candidates. While there are many exciting aspects to rehabilitation, relationships with patients will always come first to Sean. Clinical excellence, he believes, can only be deployed in a healthy therapeutic relationship based on trust and mutual understanding.
When he’s not learning new techniques for his patients, Sean is learning new steps for the dance floor. Sean is a member of the Big Apple Lindy Hoppers, a vintage dance team local to Manhattan. You can catch Sean performing with the team, choregraphing wedding dances, or teaching lessons to beginners. Sean also enjoys biking, hiking, architecture, and making music with friends.
