Sara is originally from Tampa, Florida and earned her Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Florida. During her studies, she served as the graduate teaching assistant for the musculoskeletal anatomy cadaver lab and held an executive board position for her university’s chapter of COTAD (Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity). Prior to obtaining her doctorate, Sara earned a bachelor’s degree in health science with a minor in business administration from the University of Florida as well, making her a “Double Gator.”
Sara has diverse clinical experience across multiple settings, including working with individuals with a variety of upper extremity orthopedic conditions and injuries in outpatient rehabilitation. She has experience in acute care oncology, supporting individuals in the hospital recovering from surgical cancer treatments. Her doctoral capstone focused on supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as she developed accessible vocational training materials to enhance this population’s employment sustainability. Sara is dedicated to her goal of becoming a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) to combine her passion for orthopedic rehabilitation and her commitment to lifelong learning. Sara brings an empathetic and client-centered approach to each session and incorporates her patient’s individual needs in order to support their participation in the many activities that are meaningful to them. Sara discovered her love for occupational therapy through her journey as a patient herself and strives to support her patients as they regain their independence in the same way she was supported.
In her free time, Sara loves exploring the city, visiting new restaurants, parks, and cafes, cooking and baking, attending exercise classes, and singing and playing her guitar and ukulele. She loves traveling to new places as well as spending time with family and friends back home.
