Joe Costello, PT, DPT, SCS

Joe Costello is Spear’s Vice President of Operations. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, after completing his undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Business Administration at Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh, NY. While at MSMC, Joe was a member of the basketball team and helped launch the school’s lacrosse program, serving as captain during its inaugural season.

Joe was first introduced to physical therapy after experiencing chronic shoulder injuries as a high school athlete. His own recovery process sparked a passion for the field and a deep appreciation for helping others return to the activities they love. His clinical background spans orthopedic and sports rehabilitation, spine care, cardiac rehabilitation, oncology, and private practice. In 2016, he earned board certification as a Sports Clinical Specialist from the American Physical Therapy Association.

Joe began his career at Spear as a full-time physical therapist at the 44th Street location before moving into leadership as Clinical Director, opening Spear’s West 57th Street clinic. He later served as Regional Director, overseeing growth across Midtown Manhattan, New Jersey, Queens, and Long Island. Today, as VP of Operations, Joe draws on his passion for hospitality, leadership development, and building genuine connections to drive a people-first approach to growth and patient care.

Outside of work, Joe enjoys staying active with basketball, golf, HIIT, and biking. He also loves cooking, traveling, and spending time with his wife, Christina, and their daughter, Claire
