Jessica received her doctorate in physical therapy from Hunter College, a part of the CUNY Graduate Center, and she has been a practicing therapist for the last 13 years. Jessica has known that she wanted to be a physical therapist since the 7th grade! She was an avid tap dancer, and her dance teacher was in PT school. Inspired by her teacher’s ability to get dancers back on their feet quickly, Jessica knew that this was the right path for her. While in college, Jessica was a student in the Health Careers Opportunities Program at Rusk Institute and spent time volunteering in the Vestibular Rehab Unit. Every PT experience she had as a patient, student, employee, or volunteer just further reinforced her belief in the power of PT.
Jessica has had varied PT experience from working with children and young adults to adults in their 90’s. Jessica has become specialized in the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis and is also a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT). Jessica believes that a large part of physical therapy is about education and independence. Jessica has taught courses in various communities about heart health and exercise, fall prevention, and home safety. She even designed a hands-on workshop to help massage therapists become more proficient in performing manual lymphatic drainage in the spa setting. Jessica prides herself on teaching her patients about working with their bodies and partnering with them in their own care. She believes that each person is their own best advocate, and she is committed to making you feel confident in being that for yourself!
When asked, “what do you do in your free time?” Jessica tends to laugh. As a mom of 5, free time is hard to find, but including your kids makes it more fun anyway. When she’s not in the clinic, Jessica loves kayaking, hiking, biking, off-roading in her husband’s Jeep and reading. She also loves playing games of all kinds. With lots of kids at home, playtime becomes somewhat mandatory.
