Harrison is a physical therapist at Spear’s Williamsburg location. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Miami and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Birmingham-Southern College. During his undergraduate years, Harrison was a four-year starter on the basketball team, earning First Team All-Conference honors and being named a finalist for the Academic All-American award. After college, he went on to play basketball professionally in Galway, Ireland.
Following his basketball career, Harrison transitioned to distance running and has completed multiple marathons and ultramarathons. His personal journey as an endurance athlete developed his passion for helping fellow runners return to peak performance and achieve their goals.
Harrison holds multiple certifications in running gait analysis and is a certified running coach specializing in half marathon, marathon, and ultramarathon distances. He is also a member of Spear’s Biomechanics Running Assessment Team which is a group of select therapists with advanced training in running form and its impact on injuries and performance.
He has experience treating a wide range of running related conditions including runner’s knee, stress fractures, IT band syndrome, shin splints, and Achilles tendinitis. Clinically, Harrison specializes in orthopedic injuries of the hip, knee, ankle, and foot, and has a strong background in post-operative rehabilitation, particularly ACL and meniscus repairs. He has worked with athletes at the recreational, collegiate, and professional levels.
Outside the clinic, Harrison enjoys running, cooking, attending sporting events, and spending time with his family back home in Tennessee.
