Physical Therapist - PT, DPT

Gaetano Modica, PT, DPT

Clinton Hill - Fulton St

Gaetano earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. Prior to this, he obtained both his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Exercise Science from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York.

During his undergraduate studies, Gaetano gained hands-on experience guiding adults and seniors in improving their nutrition and exercise routines through the school’s American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), certified Adult Fitness Program. He also worked as a student personal trainer, creating individualized exercise programs for both athletes and individuals looking to improve their overall fitness. While completing his graduate degree, he conducted a research project in Adelphi’s Human Performance Lab that was accepted for in-person presentation as a poster board abstract at the 2022 ACSM Annual Meeting. Around this time, he also worked as a PT aide, logging over 1,000 hours of clinical experience in preparation for physical therapy school.

At NYMC, Gaetano completed four clinical rotations, treating patients across all age groups with orthopedic, post-operative, neurological, cardiac, and sports-related conditions. These experiences helped him build a strong foundation in both inpatient and outpatient settings, allowing him to implement a wide range of treatment approaches. His NYMC doctoral project is a pediatric research investigation currently in progress, with the goal of future publication, an effort he remains involved in post-graduation. He has also participated in several community service initiatives, including geriatric fall prevention programs, fitness screenings, a community health fair, and adaptive sporting events, where he served as both a surfing instructor and a guide runner.

Gaetano believes in a patient-first approach grounded in evidence-based practice, focusing on developing individualized treatment plans that meet each patient’s unique needs. He is passionate about empowering patients through education and support, fostering improved outcomes and strong therapeutic relationships.

In his free time, Gaetano stays active by surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, running, hiking, and weightlifting. He also enjoys playing guitar, traveling with his partner, exploring new restaurants, and enjoying a good cup of coffee.
