Edwin earned his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from the University of Delaware. He then received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University. While completing his graduate studies, he worked as a neuroscience teaching assistant and conducted research for the “Validity and Reliability of a Computer Vision-based Kinematic Measure of Hand Dexterity.” His research poster was presented at the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy Annual Conference.
Before attending graduate school, Edwin founded a dance crew at UD called Isodynamic. He has performed at several showcases throughout the DMV area and competed in battles in the Philadelphia and Washington DC area. He competed on the pro-breaking tour and participated in Silverback Bboy events. Through Isodynamic, he received a YoUDee Leadership Award for his efforts to grow the hip-hop dance community and for creating one of the largest dance battle competitions in Delaware, called the “House of Hip-Hop.” Edwin was also involved in various performance and circus arts while attending UD, including juggling, contact juggling, slacklining, nunchaku freestyle, and tricking.
Edwin has clinical experience in inpatient orthopedics, outpatient sports, outpatient orthopedics, geriatrics, and neurologic rehabilitation. During his clinical experiences, he had the privilege of treating a wide variety of performance artists, which emphasized his desire to further his skills as a performance arts Physical Therapist. In his free time, Edwin enjoys outdoor sports such as ultrarunning, skiing, snowboarding, slacklining, and climbing. In addition to the arts, including dancing, painting, playing music, and various other movement arts.
