Chon received a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Arizona State University and a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Long Island University. During his time at LIU, Chon gained valuable clinical experience in various settings, including outpatient orthopedics, acute care, and neurological rehabilitation. His work also involved providing specialized care to college track and field and basketball athletes.
Born and raised in Macao, Chon’s connection to physical therapy emerged from his own experience as a sprinting athlete in the 100m and 200m events. Over the years, he actively engaged in soccer and sprinting, but encountered various injuries, including meniscus injuries, hamstring strains, and Achilles tendonitis. These experiences led him to seek physical therapy treatments regularly and ignited his strong interest in the field of physical therapy and sports rehabilitation.
Chon’s approach to patient care reflects his belief in the efficacy of combining manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and functional strengthening to help patients return to optimal levels of function and achieve their rehabilitation goals. Additionally, Chon has recently completed specialized training in blood flow restriction to further expanding his expertise.
In his free time, Chon enjoys activities such as running, scuba diving, playing soccer, go-karting, and traveling. He is also a huge fan of Formula 1 racing.
