Benjamin Kraus is the Clinical Director of Spear’s Flatiron location. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and Bachelors in Clinical Health Studies with a minor in Nutrition Promotion from Ithaca College. Benjamin’s clinical experience includes orthopedics, sports medicine, neurological rehabilitation and pediatrics. Currently, Ben is working towards his certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
During his tenure at Ithaca College, Ben participated in several clinical research projects, including projects pertaining to Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) rehabilitation and a rare variation of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). In fact, in 2017, he had the honor of presenting the GBS case report at the annual Combined Sections Meeting, the largest physical therapy conference in the country. Ben participated on the Ithaca College Men’s Club Baseball Team, worked as a Home Healthcare Aide for a teenager with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and studied abroad for a semester in Barcelona, Spain.
Benjamin’s interest in the physical therapy profession began in his early teens, when he volunteered at Children’s Specialized Hospital. His interest in becoming a physical therapist peaked after his sister underwent two ACL reconstructions and several of his close family members had to endure extensive physical therapy from debilitating injuries.
Ben’s clinical interests include working with athletes, of all ages and levels, pre and post-operative conditions, and musculoskeletal diagnoses utilizing manual therapy & therapeutic exercise. His rehabilitation philosophy is to empower his patients to reach their rehabilitation goals and to become increasingly independent in self-managing their conditions.
Ben’s interests and hobbies, outside of the clinic, include sports, both participating and spectating, running, strength training, traveling, cooking, and nutrition.
