Physical Therapist - DPT

Amanda Whelan, DPT

Penn Plaza - 7th Ave

Amanda received her Doctor of Physical Therapy and Bachelors in Exercise Science degrees from the University of Scranton. Both her undergraduate and graduate studies were strongly molded by the Jesuit ideals incorporated into higher education, emphasizing commitment to excellence, service and justice. Specifically, two core Jesuit ideals, “cura personalis” (care for the whole person) and “men and women for and with others”, have shaped Amanda into the physical therapist she is today. During her graduate studies, she was highly involved in service activities within the community such as a campus pro-bono PT clinic, Individuals Abilities in Motion (I AM), wheelchair basketball, and health fairs for local refugees.

Amanda’s clinical experience in both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation settings allowed her to expand her knowledge and advance her skills in helping patients with diverse diagnoses. During her previous experiences, she has treated patients with a variety of orthopedic, neurologic, vestibular, cardiopulmonary, and post-surgical diagnoses. Amanda’s goal for her patients is to treat them with a patient-center approach to get each patient back to doing what they love and what they are passionate about.

In her free time, Amanda can be found staying active — from running, weightlifting, and hiking to practicing Pilates and yoga, she is always on the move. Amanda also loves to spend time with friends and family as well as trying out new hobbies.
