Kate earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health at the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Exercise Science with a specialization in Disabilities Studies.
While at UT Southwestern, Kate experienced a wide array of clinical experiences. In outpatient orthopedics, Kate has experience in various orthopedic populations including cancer rehabilitation, post-op treatment, as well as general and sports related injuries. Additionally, she has experience working in acute care, assisting in mobility following traumatic orthopedic injuries at a Level 1 trauma center. Kate also has experience working in inpatient rehabilitation, assisting patients with subacute spinal cord injuries in return to life and functional activities.
Kate’s aspiration to become a physical therapist began in her volunteer work with adults with disabilities and various neurological conditions. Following observation hours and working as a physical therapy aide, Kate’s desire to become as physical therapist was affirmed, as she witnessed the close relationships PTs were able to cultivate with their time and energy focused on helping their patients recover from injuries and set-backs. Kate’s goal in physical therapy is to treat each of her patients, considering the emotional, physical and psychological impacts injury can have on each person and help them heal and improve their quality of life.
Kate was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. After completing a clinical experience in Manhattan, Kate fell in love with the active, motivated patients of New York City and chose to return to start her career. Outside the clinic, Kate loves to spend her time with friends and family, engaging in various forms of exercise, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, traveling, and cheering on her Longhorns.
