Lauren Merrifield, PT, DPT

Lauren Merrifield graduated on the Dean’s list from the University of Pittsburgh with her bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Science. She went on to get her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the same institution. Lauren is originally from Syracuse NY, and recently moved to New York City to explore new opportunities. 

Throughout physical therapy school, she had a variety of clinical experiences across outpatient and inpatient settings. Her time in the classroom as well as in diverse clinical settings lead to her development of a creative and patient centered treatment approach that addresses the patient as a whole. While in physical therapy school, Lauren had a 6-month rotation in a pediatric setting where she participated in a serial casting program, spasticity clinic, cerebral palsy clinic, and a locomotor training program. She also volunteered with an adaptive hockey training group “Mighty Penguins” to become more accustomed to working with athletes. Lauren has had the opportunity to work with patients of various ages, functional statuses, and backgrounds.

Lauren is passionate about learning what motivates her patients and makes their life most fulfilling. She emphasizes a wholistic approach combined with evidence-based practice to enable her patients to do what matters most to them. It is essential to Lauren to empower her patients to actively participate in their care and make the recovery a collaborative process. She believes the most successful plan of care is one that the patient is invested in.  

In her free time, Lauren enjoys reading, trying new restaurants, and going for walks / runs to explore the area. Most importantly, she loves to make new and meaningful memories with family and friends.
