Lucas earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota in 2018, where he developed a strong foundation in human movement and exercise science. During his undergraduate studies, he gained hands-on experience as a personal trainer at the university gym, helping individuals improve their strength and fitness. His passion for movement and rehabilitation led him to pursue an Associate of Applied Science in Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) from Anoka-Ramsey Community College, which he completed in 2022. As part of his clinical training, he completed an outpatient rotation at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, gaining valuable experience working under the guidance of highly skilled and experienced therapists.
Lucas has experience working with the geriatric population, particularly in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting, where he has provided therapeutic interventions and guidance for patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, strokes, amputations, and other common age-related comorbidities. With the opportunity to help individuals navigate their outpatient recovery and restore their quality of life, he is eager to transition into a setting that allows for more individualized and progressive rehabilitation. Having personally dealt with and now managing chronic low back pain due to an L4/L5 disc herniation, Lucas understands the challenges of rehabilitation on a deeper level, fueling his passion for movement and exercise. He is working towards becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) to expand his expertise and enhance his ability to provide well-rounded patient care.
Outside of work, Lucas enjoys staying active through resistance training, prehab/rehab exercises, and the occasional yoga class when he wants to be humbled. He also enjoys the challenge of language learning, currently working on improving his Spanish and Italian skills. In his free time, he loves spending time with his wife and dog and indulging in a good donut every now and then.
